Project summary

A full Victorian refurbishment

This project involved the full refurbishment and extension of a Victorian terraced house in Peckham, a dynamic and creative area of South London. The owners wanted to modernize their home while retaining the character of the original property. The goal was to create more living space, bring in natural light, and incorporate a design that reflects both modern living needs and the vibrant spirit of Peckham.

The property, a late Victorian terraced house, had a traditional layout with small, cramped rooms, a dark kitchen, and limited natural light. The customers needed:

  • Open-Plan Living: The layout was reworked to create a large, open-plan kitchen and dining space at the rear of the house, with bifold doors leading to the garden, maximizing natural light and connecting the indoor and outdoor spaces.
  • Rear Extension: A double-storey extension was added to the rear of the property to house the new kitchen and dining area. Large glazed windows and a roof lantern flooded the space with light and provided stunning views of the garden.
  • Upstairs Reconfiguration: The existing bedrooms were reconfigured to add an extra office / Bedroom
  • Preserving Original Features: We restored the period features, including the original fireplaces and cornicing, while introducing modern elements like sleek kitchen cabinetry, minimalist lighting, and engineered hardwood flooring.
